When you enrol to learn to scuba dive there are two options available. The first option is to complete the theory and pool sessions for the course here in London and the 4 qualifying dives abroad on your own holiday. The PADI Open Water Diver course with DIVE WIMBLEDON
Course Overview
- Dive Wimbledon offers a variety of home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course - Elearning or PADI Open Water Manual and DVD package. With the Elearning option you will complete more of the home study before your course and will spend less time in the classroom.
- 5 pool or shallow water modules completed over two sessions
- 4 Open Water qualifying dives
- Small classes
Requirements
- Elearning: Read and complete the home study including course the PADI Open Water knowledge reviews, quizzes and final exam or
- Manual: Read and complete the five knowledge reviews at home and theory modules in the classroom. Please enquire if you are interested in this option as it is not always available.
Prerequisites
To enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must be:
- 10 years or older
- A simple medical form needs to be completed
Duration
- 2 weekends or
- 2 Wednesday evenings and a Weekend. The Wednesday evening sessions are for those who are confident in the water and short on time as we move at a faster pace than at weekends.
- During the summer holidays the course can also be completed over 2-3 weekdays - Enquire for more information and dates.
Cost
- £599 - Special Offer only £539 which includes the Elearning until the 28th March.

Locations
- We typically use Putney Leisure Centre as it is the biggest and best dive pool in South West London and Wraysbury lake which has a shallow submerged platform. Occasionally we use other London scuba diving pools including Southfields Community College and Tooting Leisure Centre but the above dates are all for Putney Leisure Centre and Wraysbury. The open water dives take place at Wraysbury Lake near Windsor or on one of our overseas scuba diving holidays. Alternatively if you are heading to Sharm in Egypt these dives can be completed with our partner centre. Contact us for more information.
Completion
- PADI Open Water Diver certification card
- Qualified to dive to 18 metres with a buddy
- Your certification card is valid for life but frequent pool refreshers and practise pool sessions are highly recommended. As a Dive Wimbledon student you are invited to join our friendly dive club for social events and diving here and abroad
Your next Adventure
Once you have completed the PADI Open Water Diver course you might like to move on to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course - or any of our speciality courses for experience including the PADI Drysuit Diver course, Nitrox course or Deep Diver course. You might also like to consider the Free PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course when you complete five speciality courses.
Course Dates
We have courses starting on all the dates above but we are very flexible and it is possible to mix and match dates so please contact us if your course requires more flexibility and we will be happy to help.
At the moment in addition to our normal courses in the swimming pool and lake the whole course can take place over three days at a lake where we use a shallow secure submerged platform before moving on to the qualifying dives.
