PADI Advanced Freediver
Achieving a new freediving time or reaching a new depth is an incredible feeling. It satisfies that very personal desire to do your best and be proud of what you can accomplish. The PADI Advanced Freediver course is designed to fulfil that personal need to refine and improve your freediving skills, allowing you to progress slowly while learning how your body performs during apnea.

Course Overview
The PADI Freediver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development including freediving principles through independent study with the PADI Freediver Elearning. Your instructor will be available to answer any questions or queries you may have.
- 2 Confined Water Sessions to learn the advantages of stretching and relaxation techniques to improve your static and dynamic apnea, to introduce CO2 table training and additional safety and rescue skills.
- Goal – Static Apnea of 2 minutes, 30 seconds (2 minutes for freedivers younger than 18)
- Goal – Dynamic Apnea of 50m. (40m for freedivers younger than 18)
- 2 Open Water Sessions (Can be done on one day) to practice deeper ‘Free Immersion’ (FIM) and ‘Constant Weight’ (CWT) dives, incorporating new techniques such as Free-Fall and Frenzel equalisation along with additional buddy procedures and rescue techniques.
- Goal – Constant Weight freedive of 20 metres.
Requirements
- Elearning: Read and complete the home study including knowledge reviews and final exam.
- Complete a quick review quiz in person with your instructor.
Prerequesites
To enroll in the PADI Advanced Freediver course, you must be:
- 15 Years old or older
- Have a PADI Freediver certification (or a qualifying certification from another freediver organization)
- Complete the PADI Freediver Medical History Form, the PADI Freediver Program Release of Liability form and the PADI Freediver Safe Diving Practices Statement of Understanding

- 2 weekends (1 weekend to complete the pool sessions plus 1 day for the open water session)

Locations
- We typically use Putney Leisure Centre as it is the biggest and best dive pool in South West London.
- We conduct the PADI Advanced Freediver Open Water sessions over one day at Vobster Quay in Somerset between May - September. Alternatively, we also run regular trips throughout the year out to Poland, to Europe’s deepest pool, Deepspot. The sessions can be completed in their 32C water without the need for a wetsuit. Completion
- PADI Advanced Freediver E-card (certification)
- Qualified as a Level 2 Freediver with experience and understanding of proper freediving safety and buddying requirements for both Pool & Open water freediving.
Your next Adventure
Once you have completed the PADI Advanced Freediver course you might like to move on to the PADI Master Freediver course. Here you will learn to refine and improve your freediving skills and technique to perfection in both the pool and open water. With the introduction of new techniques such as Mouthfill, FRC dives, Constant pressure equalisation and additional safety & rescue training, all which will help take you to those deeper depths.
