Marsa Alam - 13 - 20th June 2012

Duration : 1 week

Diving in Marsa Alam: Marsa Alam is one of the newer Red Sea diving destinations and one of the least affected by human interference. Direct flights only started in 2004 so it is the ideal destination for those looking at diving the Red Sea the way it used to be.

We first took a school/ club group diving in Marsa Alam in 2005 and we all had a fabulous time seeing reef sharks, dolphins, turtles and rays.

Marsa Alam is perfect for those who are diving for the first time or completing courses as well as more experienced divers. There is the famous Elphinstone Reef which can be visited as a day trip as well as numerous untouched dive sites.

It is also possible to visit the ruins at Luxor as part of a long day trip.

Cost : £661 including flights, taxes, transfers, on a halfboard basis in a twin room. If anybody would prefer not to share, then the single supplement is absolutely nothing.

Hotel : The hotel is the lovely 4* Tulip Resort.

The rooms are in bungalows built in natural stone with separate dressing table and wardrobes, and ensuite bathrooms with shower and hairdryer.
Each room has its own private balcony/terrace overlooking the sea. All rooms have satellite TV, air-conditioning, mini bar and phone.

The hotel has it's own health club including sauna, massage and a fitness centre. There are 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, horse riding and it's own house reef.

There are 4 restaurants and bars onsite including pool bar.

The resort also has it's own private beach.

Diving : The diving is being arranged through Orca Dive Club. A 5 day, 10 shore and house reef dive package, costs £165 while a 6 day, 12 shore and house reef dive package costs £198. This price is for unguided dives. If you have less than 30 dives or would like a guide then a guide costs 5 Euros per dive. Full equipment can be rented for 14 Euros/day. I can rent you the equipment if you prefer for £10/day. Nitrox tanks are free of charge for Enriched Air qualified divers. For those taking courses with Dive Wimbledon we will be doing all the teaching and a local guide will accompany us. It is possible to do more dives/day, night dives, wreck dives, boat dives at Elphinstone Reef and Dolphin House(Samadai National Park) as well as RIB dives.
